Christian Houge at Haugar Vestfold Kunstmuseum
The exhibition ‘Border District’ addresses the topic of death as a taboo theme in our time and presents a number of Norwegian and international artists who have approached the phenomenon from varying angles. Some express the feeling of loss and grief when someone close passes away; others train the spotlight on the situation and status of old age, or reflect on our attitudes to the often inconceivable act of suicide. Some works also poses the hopeful question of whether there is anything on the other side; whether there is life after death.
Christian Houge is represented in the show with the Moksha series, an impressive body of work he has been working on for the past 4 years, consisting of still photographs and also a video-installation.
The exhibition has been curated by Haugar’s Tone Lyngstad Nyaas and presents artists such as Eline Medbøe, Jone Kvie, René Holm, Christian Houge, Natasja Askelund, Vanessa Baird, Biljana Djurdjevik, Espen Gleditsch, Astrid Mørland, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Ivan Galuzin and Morten Viskum.
