MOKSHA//-an audiovisual experience

moksha_0.jpg

Photographer Christian Houge often travels to India, drawn towards the scents, sounds, light and the magic of Varanasi. This time he has captured images and sounds by the Ganges, Shiva river. The elderly and the sick arrive from across India to pass their final days praying at the river, in ashrams or on the street, knowing that dying on the banks of the Ganges will speed them through the cycle of rebirths to moksha, or liberation of the soul. Outside the fires are burning. (Previously sent at NRK P2 – April 08)
